Description

The recovery bag was initially designed for Tour de France cyclists and has since become a popular sleeping accessory with athletes and travellers. Many people also sleep in them at home, enjoying the effect of being cocooned in the Earth's energy.

The bag can be used either as a sleeping bag or as a flat sheet. Zipped up, it measures 95cm (37") wide by 210cm (83") long, and forms a spacious sleeping bag for one person. When unzipped it will lie flat, measuring 190cm (75") wide by 210cm (83") long, and will accommodate two people sleeping on top of it.

It is 100% natural cotton, with soft, yet durable conductive silver fibres woven throughout the material. Colour is natural cotton (off-white).

About Groundology

Grounding, or earthing, refers to making a direct electrical connection between the human body and the Earth. In modern life, rubber and plastic-soled shoes, elevated buildings, and insulated sleeping arrangements mean most of us have lost the natural electrical contact with the Earth that our ancestors had as a matter of course.

There are two key reasons researchers consider this connection significant.

The Earth acts as a vast reservoir of negatively charged free electrons. Without a physical connection to the ground, the body has no access to this reservoir. Researchers have observed that red blood cells in ungrounded individuals can appear to carry excess positive charge, associated with the cells clumping together, an effect captured clearly under darkfield microscopy.

Our modern environment also exposes us to a wide spectrum of electromagnetic radiation from mobile phones, WiFi, Bluetooth, computers, and power lines. This can induce voltages in the body, which some researchers suggest may interfere with the body's own subtle electrical signalling. A connection to the Earth's large electrical mass may help reduce these induced voltages.

The simplest way to ground is barefoot contact with grass, soil, sand, or a natural body of water such as the sea. Indoors, a range of conductive products including earthing sheets, mats, bands, and patches connect to the earth pin of a standard mains socket to replicate this connection.
