Suma Powder – Brazil’s Revered Adaptogenic Root

Suma (Pfaffia paniculata) is a powerful root herb native to the rainforests of Brazil and parts of South America. Known for its deep and intricate root system, Suma has been used in traditional Amazonian herbalism for hundreds of years, where it is regarded as one of the region’s most valued tonic plants.

In Brazil, Suma is sometimes called "Para Toda," meaning "For All Things" — a reflection of its long-standing place in South American wellness traditions. It’s also known as “Brazilian Ginseng,” although it is not botanically related to ginseng — the name refers to its traditional use as a revitalising tonic.

Suma gained popularity with Russian athletes in the 1970s, who explored its inclusion in their training and recovery regimes, bringing wider attention to its adaptogenic qualities.
