Tangy & versatile
"This is a great addition to so many recipes & keeps so well in the fridge that I like to always have a jar on hand. Perfect."
Clearspring Organic Japanese Umeboshi Paste (Salt-pickled Plum Paste) is a tart and tangy seasoning that can be used to enliven sushi, dips, dressings, spreads and sauces.
Kate Magic's Favourite:
Kate says, "I love a thin layer of umeboshi paste in a nori wrap, or spread onto crackers. I also often put a teaspoon in a salad dressing. It's salty but super alkalising, and adds a piquant flavour to your dishes."

"Love this flavor instead of salt"
"I love the salty tanginess of Umeboshe paste. Whether stirred into rice, added to a salad dressing or very lightly spread on rice cakes, it's wonderful. I have even tried to ferment my own umeboshe but it is never as good as Clear Spring's. Whilst I was pregnant with my youngest daughter I ate it every day! So it has a really special place in my heart x."
"So far, I've only had this spread on cucumber slices. It wasn't as intense as I expected - barely there flavour (although I only used a scraping) - I had to put a little miso with it in order to taste something! Quite nice, perhaps I'll grow to love it, but I'm unsure if I'll buy it again at this point."
