Klamath Lake algae is the only wild algae harvested for human consumption. The Klamath Lake is in Oregon, on the west coast of the USA.

What is Klamath Lake blue-green algae?

Klamath Lake blue-green algae is a purely natural plant food, which goes through minimal processing to reach us in edible form.

Blue-green algae is harvested from the Upper Klamath Lake in Oregon, U.S.A. The Klamath Lake basin acts as a 'nutrient trap' for the surrounding 4,000 square miles of secluded wilderness in the Cascade Mountains. Seventeen rivers and streams feed the lake with a rich supply of minerals, volcanic silt and many other nutrients. So pure are their waters that the locals refer to them as 'The Rivers of Light'. To get the maximum benefits from algae it is vital that it is does not reach extreme temperatures during processing; heating or freezing will destroy it. Look for algae which has been flash dried, as this leaves the cells of the algae intact and retains its bioactivity. Chlorella and Spirulina, the two other algae available commercially, are both excellent nutritional sources, although neither matches Klamath Lake blue-green algae.

All the essential trace minerals: boron, calcium, chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous, potassium, sodium, zinc and vanadium

Vitamins thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), pyrodoxine (B6), niacin (B3), vitamin B12, vitamin C., choline, pantothenic acid (B5), biotin, folic acid, and vitamin E. 

All eight amino acids, and in a form more easily digested by the body than those found in meat and vegetable protein (85% assimilable, whereas beef is only 20% assimilable).

Thousands of live active enzymes. Enzymes are a little mentioned component of health, yet vital to every process of the body. They are completely destroyed by temperatures of over 118 degrees centigrade: consequently, all cooked food is devoid of enzymes, and many of us may be lacking in sufficient amounts to ensure vitality, especially in winter months when our intake of fruit and salads tends to be lower.

The highest source of chlorophyll in the plant kingdom. Chlorophyll helps to correct overacidity in the body.

RNA/DNA, nucleic acids essential in the reparation of cells and growth of body tissue.

Essential fatty acids. These fats are vital to good health, but as they are only found in fish, and seeds such as flax and hemp, they are often lacking in a vegan diet.

One of the highest known natural sources of beta-carotene, a rich source of vitamin A.

How To Use

Klamath Lake algae is very concentrated, you only need a little. Start off with quarter of a teaspoon, and continue that as a good maintenance dose. Don’t take more than one teaspoon in a day unless specifically advised by your healthcare practitioner.

Try getting it in you first thing in the morning by adding it to your breakfast: stir it into your porridge, yoghurt or smoothie. Or sprinkle a little over your lunchtime salad.
