Known as the Elixir of Life, Tulsi, or 'Holy Basil' is a sacred plant in India and one of the most popular Ayurvedic herbs.

Tulsi translates as “the incomparable plant.” It is classed as an adaptogen, and has been used for more than 3000 years. It is actually similar to culinary basil, and from the mint family of herbs.

The plant itself is worshipped by Hindus as the embodiment of the goddess Laksmi, and every part including leaves, stem, flowers, and seeds is revered. They are grown around the household shrines, and believed to bestow wealth and protection.
