Suma is a Brazilian adaptogenic herb, favoured by Russian athletes. It is a plant with a deep intricate root system, thereby, according to the law of similars, it is effective at really getting deep into the body’s energy system. Although still relatively unknown in the West, it has been used for hundreds of years in South America, as one of the premier adaptogenic herbs in that tradition. In Brazil it translates as "Para Toda," which means, "For All Things." Also known as Brazilian Ginseng, it is not actually botanically related to Ginseng, the name is just to give you an idea of the properties of the plant.

Use with caution. 1/4 teaspoon per person is the recommended dose. Don't take 1 tsp at once until you have built up to that amount. Suma is flavourless, so you can add it to pretty much anything. There are lots of Suma recipes in Kate's Raw Magic book.
